The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8,
1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational

Little League Baseball, Incorporated is a non-profit organization whose mission is to "to promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball." Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program assists youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Baseball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes. Westchester and Playa Del Rey has the following three leagues. The softball Little League covers the entire area. Where the child resides determines which of the other two regular leagues he or she may join. |

The Junior Lifeguard Program is designed to instruct the Los Angeles County community youth, 9 - 17 years of age, in beach and ocean skills. The six-week summer program provides instruction in water safety, swimming, body surfing, surfing, physical conditioning, competition skills, first aid, lifesaving, rescue techniques and CPR, as well as assisting professional ocean Lifeguards. |

Sign ups begin in: May Camps begin in: July and August The Beach Cities Volleyball Camp is for boys and girls between 7 & 16 years. In all camps, players will be placed in small groups of players of similar ability. Each day, the groups will travel to each of several stations, with each station focusing on an individual skill. In addition to the instructions, tournaments will be played at the Advanced Camps. Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced classes held at American Martyrs and Rolling Hills Prep. Classes start July 29. |

Once a year Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and its
business and community partners host three free, week-long
educational programs for local-area seventh and eighth-grade and high school
students to provide an introduction to careers in aviation
The Junior Aviation Career Education (ACE Academy) for middle school students is scheduled Monday, July 15, through Friday, July 19; and the High School ACE Academy is scheduled for Monday, July 29 through Friday, August 2. The program provides participants with a basic understanding of career opportunities within the aviation industry, as well as general knowledge about LAX. Students will receive facility tours and briefings by airport-wide employees and tenants. The middle school students will also spend a day with Southwest Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration while the high school students will spend a day with American Airlines and an afternoon at Boeing. Call in early Spring for further information and applications. |
